If you are using Windows XP, you may have noticed that you are asked if you "would like to report the error" every time a program crashes. You can turn off this annoying feature, by going into Control Panel, select System, and select the Advanced tab, and click Error Reporting.

However, and that is a big however, there is an overall benefit to reporting errors. It enters your problem in Microsoft's database and the more often a specific error is reported, the more likely it is to get fixed. Also, if Microsoft already knows the cause of the error, you will get quick feedback from them on the solution. I choose to always report errors and in about 1 out of 20 times I find it directly beneficial to me..
